Timothy C. Cook is a 1983 graduate of Cheboygan Area High School and a 1987graduate of Lake Superior State University with a BS in Criminal Justice and a minor in Fire Science and a graduate form the LSSU Police Academy. He started his career in 1987 with the Fenton City Police Department in Genesee County. In 1996 he was hired by the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department as a road deputy. He was assigned to the Straits Area Narcotics Team S.A.N.E. for two years. In 2001 he was promoted to Detective Sergeant. In 2009 Tim was promoted to Detective Lieutenant and in 2014 he was appointed by Sheriff Clarmont as his Undersheriff. Upon Sheriff Clarmont’s Retirement on January 31, 2023, Tim was appointed Sheriff. Tim is a 2016 graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
