Sheriff Eric Gravelle is the 21st Sheriff of Luce County. He graduated from Gladwin High School in 1983 and received a Associates Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement from Kirtland Community College in 1985. He then attended the Delta Police Academy in 1987 and started working for Gladwin City Police Department. In 1989 he attended the 106th Recruit School of the Michigan State Police. He was assigned to the Owosso Post out of recruit school and then transferred the Newberry Post in 1993. He was also assigned to the Mio Post and eventually the Manistique Post where he worked until retirement from the MSP in 2014. After a short retirement he was hired as a deputy for the Luce County Sheriff’s Office, in January 2017 he was promoted to Undersheriff. On January 1, 2023 he was sworn in as Sheriff of Luce County where he continues to proudly server the citizens.
