Sheriff Darrin Kudwa is a 1995 graduate of Forest Park High School in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He began his higher education at Gogebic Community College before transferring to Northern Michigan University in Marquette, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in 2001.
In 2007, Sheriff Kudwa attended the Regional Police Academy at Northern Michigan University. Following his academy training, he began his law enforcement career with the Norway City Police
Department in a part-time role. In March 2008, he joined the Menominee City Police Department as a full-time officer.
During his 16-year tenure with the Menominee City Police Department, Sheriff Kudwa served in various capacities. He started his career as a patrol officer before being assigned to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) in 2013, where he worked as a narcotics detective for five years.
In November 2019, he was promoted to Detective Sergeant, a position he held for five years.
In November 2024, Darrin Kudwa was elected Sheriff of Menominee County.
