Resident of Mio, Oscoda County, for the last 31 years and a 1980 graduate of Ogemaw Heights High School, West Branch.
Received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate’s Degree in Natural Resources Technology in 1984 from Lake Superior State College.
Worked as a Patrolman for West Branch and Rose City Police Department for a year, until being hired full time for the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy in 1985.
Promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and then appointed to Undersheriff in 1999.
In 2008 was appointed to the position of Sheriff and in 2009 was elected as Sheriff.
Attended many Leadership courses over his career and a recent Graduate of the National Sheriff’s Institute of Leadership, in Longmont Colorado, 98th Session.
Sheriff Grace is the current Chairman of the Northern Michigan Mutual Aide Group and was a past Chairman of the Strike Team Investigative Narcotics Team Advisory Board, serves on the Northern Michigan Child Assessment Center Board for child victims, a member of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association, and many other boards and committees in Oscoda County. He also served as a Board Member of the River House Shelter Inc. for 5 years.
Sheriff Grace and his wife Sheri have been married for 31 years. They have two children, Eric, a Deputy in Missaukee County, and Alisha, of Mt. Pleasant and the proud Grand parent to Cayden Grace.
