Sheriff Glen Skrent graduated from Alpena Community College with an Associate’s degree in Forestry and Criminal Justice. He transferred to Ferris State College in 1978 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and went thru their police academy. He first started his law enforcement career with the Cass City Police Dept. He then went to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office and started working in the jail. Since then he has worked every position that was available including, corrections, road patrol deputy, dispatcher, road patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant and Undersheriff. In 2016 he was elected Sheriff of the County after Lee Teschendorf retired. His goals are to fix an aging jail built in 1965 and to increase the road patrol to a level that can provide the needed security for the citizens of Tuscola County.
